Cajun Shrimp

Cajun Shrimp! not the same as down south but it's good enough for me. I stole this recipe from my cousin Stacey. She's another really great cook in my family. My cousin is not a black woman but she introduced me to more than just soul food. She forced me to try everything she cooked at least once before I could tell her I did not like it. This is how I started to build my taste pallet and I've been trying new things ever since. You have to get outside of soul food and try to expand your taste. Great cooks come in many cultures so start with an open mind so you can end up with a full stomach.

Recipe:

1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons of Cajun spice

2 table spoons of butter

2 teaspoons of paprika

1 teaspoon of red pepper

1/4 teaspoon of pepper

1/4 teaspoon of salt

You can also add 1/4 tablespoon of garlic powder

Prep Work:

Melt butter in microwave 1 min

let it sit for 5 minutes ( you don't want it to cook the shrimp)

Pour the butter over the shrimp and add in your dry ingredients

Mix well.

Let it set in the frig for 1 hour.

COOKING:

grill for 2 mins on medium heat

Life Hack:

You don't have to use butter, you can substitute it with mayonnaise.

Let it sit in the frig for one hour.

Take it out and grill it for 1-2 mins.

I paired my shrimp with some brown rice and a salad.

Before You Go:

Did you try it? Did you love it as much as I hyped it up? If you make this recipe, be sure to snap a photo and hashtag it #AndrogynineRECIPE . I'd love to see how it came out!
